Page Description ~ Function, Organization, and Layout
This page is the sitemap to the GNO ( GothicNovelOrg ) website. It serves as a master navigational tool for the site, organizing related links into familiar groups and section – they are presented in a strict 'flat directory structure' layout. The grouped links and sections are organized as follows:
Section 0 ~ Content Summary Description
This section provides the reader with an overview of the online work, Grotesque, A Gothic Epic, and the sponsoring website (GNO) that permanently hosts Graven's materials. As brief summary overviews, it provides adequate information about each. This section is useful to new audiences that have since discovered the website and work, and would like introductory information about scope and content.
Section 1 ~ Volume and Chapter Links
This section gives the audience direct links to all selected chapters. Each link contains the chapter's title and an excerpt of the scriptural passage found in the chapter plate. The links are presented in bullet-point format and in chapter numerical order. Link selection opens the chosen chapter page in another window, giving the reader immediate navigational access to the selected narrative. Within the section, all three volumes of Graven's, Grotesque: A Gothic Epic, trilogy are organized in ascending numerical order. All three volume link-layouts are sorted and presented in identical fashion, ensuring both content and format standardization.
Section 2 ~ Chapter Downloads
This section provides a bulleted list of chapter file links in ascending numerical order so that the reader can download sequential PDF chapter files. This allows the audience to create a printed hard copy of the selected chapter, which can be read offline and away from the computer if desired. Many decide to download an entire volume at once instead of coming back to the site for a subsequent chapter. Note that the online screen version of chapters contain illustrations – the downloadable PDF files only contain chapter text, similar to most novels, and is preferred to many when reading the chapter with PDF readers on mobile devices where screen space is limited. Loading the chapter files on portable devices also allows the reader to take the chapter to any preferred location, apart from possible distractions, (e.g.: coffee shop, park, work, travel, etc.) and within environments that might facilitate ideal story emersion. Do keep in mind that, although the chapters are free to download and read for personal enjoyment, the material still falls under active international copyright protections (since 1998) – any modification, redistribution or reposting of these files runs contrary to those protections.
The Chapter Download list is organized by chapter number, chapter title, and a series of clickable links for the desired language format. There are four default languages provided: English (UK), Spanish (Americas), Portuguese (Brazil), French (France). If the reader desires a chapter download in another language besides the four primary languages listed, there is a fifth clickable link on the end of the series, called “Other”. This link will take the reader to the PLP Page (Preferred Language Page), where downloads in over 80 languages can be performed. Once the desired language is selected and the download completes, a PDF machine-translated file for the selected chapter is delivered to the reader. There is no limit on downloads through the PLP Page – an entire volume of chapters in the selected language can be downloaded. Also note that, when the material is translated into another language, the international copyright protections remain in place, since it is the intellectual property that is protected, no matter how it may be presented. That said, please keep your translated/untranslated chapter copies for personal enjoyment only.
Section 3 ~ Supporting Materials
This section offers additional materials related to Graven's work that are not directly a part of chapters or volumes. It includes information regarding characters, story events, chronological and locational details, reference materials and more. These links are grouped together as a collective of supporting information for Grotesque: A Gothic Epic, aiding the reader to form a more complete and detailed account of the unfolding plot, changing characters, and numerous settings and evolving time-line within the lengthy saga. The overall work is fairly involved, and this section of grouped reference tools allows the reader readily-available information to follow along with minimal confusion or recollection issues. These tools (timeline, glossary, reference maps, etc.) are intended for repeated use and convenient access while traversing the novel's lengthy volumes and chapters.

The Online Novel ( Grotesque: A Gothic Epic )
Novel Synopsis: This fully illustrated online novel, Grotesque ~ A Gothic Epic, 'is an historical epic saga that unfolds in the Late Middle Ages. Lazarus Gogu is a winged boy and an abbey squire, abruptly thrown into a hostile world of pious men who would destroy him and fallen angels bent on escaping hell. Under all but impossible circumstances, Lazarus must struggle to stay alive, hold true to his faith, and stop the unfolding of a medieval Armageddon. The entire work is a trilogy consisting of the following three volumes/books:
Graven's Grotesque Trilogy
Volume 1 ~ Resurrection
Volume II ~ Trials & Tribulations
Volume III ~ Medieval Armageddon
Expanded Description: The story is an Enochian tale based on Nephilim lore found in various sacred scripture, especially within Apocryphal works apart from accepted scriptural bodies, including ancient works like the Book of Enoch, the Book of Giants, the Book of Jubilees, the Book of Moses, the Book of Adam and Eve, The Sibylline Oracles, The Wisdom of Solomon, and the Dead Sea Scrolls. The narrative follows our gothic hero, Lazarus Gogu (An Elioud outcast), who, by sworn promise, has been left with the task of flying From France to Italy in order to fetch a friar and help close the second of three Gatestones opened by his Mother from the other side of the Great Seal (Hades and Tartarus), that was initially formed when the Watchers (the Grigori) were cast down before the Great Deluge.
Along his journey, he befriends a spectre named, Lord Medicci (200+ years dead) who has since been eluding angels in an attempting to locate the entrance to Hell and rescue his beloved Lady Sophia Medicci, who took her own life after falsely learning that Gregori Medicci had passed away in a violent ocean storm. Together, Lazarus and Medicci face terrible obstacles and incredible antagonists who do not wish Lazarus to succeed. They encounter the strange spiritual world of banished angels and mythical characters (familiar in both the Greek and Roman Pantehons, and who were precisely the banished Titans, Giants, and Nephilim referenced in Enochian lore.) They are Apollo and Chiron, Demeter, Cassandra, Cerberus, Oceanus and Tethys, Charybdis, Prometheus, the Giant Cyclopes, the Gorgons, the Green Giants of Anak, the Red Giants of Golgaith, the Hydra, Homonedeus and Bestimedeus, and others. There are also the shades of the fallen angels (the Chiefs of Tens, as referenced in Enoch), alongside their selected head angel, Lucifael, who leads this attempted escape from the other side of the Great Seal, and from the depths of Hades. With the late Friar Ivan being Lazarus' paternal parent, Lucifael is Lazarus' spiritual maternal being (see: Succubus); and throughout the narrative, she poses as the primary antagonist.
As the story unfolds, the characters are revealed, positions are taken, lines are drawn, and the plot evolution plunges our Elioud hero and ghostly companion into an epic battle of cosmic proportions -- between converging armies of hundreds of thousands of troops from both France, Italy, and surrounding provinces. In the year of our Lord, 1352, at the physical site of the third Gatesone of the ancient Great Seal, a spiritual and physical Armageddon explodes. In the remote mountains of Italy's Umbria Province, and at the ancient and massive, walled Monastero del Cancello, Lazarus and Medicci are caught in the middle of a rapidly-unfolding apocalypse -- the fate of the world rests squarely on the shoulders of these two persecuted outcasts. How can a mere Eljo and a wandering soul go up against massive converging armies and likewise prevent the Damons from escaping Hell? How can they survive those vast, malevolent ranks of the Fallen: the Watchers, the Grigori, the Titans and Giants, the Nephilim hordes, and the Elioud swarms? And how will Lord Medicci manage to rescue his Lady Sophia from the depths of Hell in the midst of a full blown cosmic apocalypse? They failed once; they cannot fail again.

Grotesque - A Gothic Epic : Prologue Image
Grotesque A Gothic Epic, micro~introduction: The Biblical Story of the Fall of Angels, the Nephilim, Elioud, and Eljo, and the subsequent Great Deluge, or Flood Myth, was the greatest and oldest recorded Gothic epic tale in all of Human History. It is mentioned all throughout Scripture, and has a foundation in both the Book of Enoch, and the Book of Genesis. This work is merely a sliver of its fantastical retelling and adaptation, introducing a Nephilim~spawned outcast Eljo. or Elioud, and grotesque, named Lazarus Gogu, who survives nearly impossible headwinds to keep his faith while saving the world from a second certain destruction and Armageddon. This work combines biblical lore, Enochian (Elioud) lore, notable figures of the Greek and Roman Pantheon, and incorporates these elements into a medieval gothic epic. It falls under multiple sub~genres, including gothic grotesque, epic saga, and alternate history.
